My Previous Volunteer and Work Experience
Below, I've included information about work I have completed in the past and what I am continuing to do in both a volunteer/employee setting.

Education
I have been tutoring students for more than four years. Over this time, I have worked with various organizations and learning centres. I am passionate about increasing literacy and promoting equitable access to education. I work with many children for whom English is a second language. I use my creativity to design engaging projects that address gaps in the current curriculum.

How does this relate to PR?
My experience as a tutor allows me to better understand the importance of tailoring key messages to specific audiences. I regularly interact with parents, teachers, and students, which has strengthened my understanding of how various stakeholders are affected by public issues, including ESL education.
Education - Marketing and Client Experience
At Humber Polytechnic, I work with Admissions and Recruitment. I conduct tours to inform prospective students about what Humber has to offer. I create and present key messages according to the needs of my tour guests. I have also worked on creating print materials with key information and supporting events. I worked during Open House, Orientation, and the Ontario College Fair.
How does this relate to PR?
As a Recruitment Ambassador, I strategically select and create key messages that aim to lead to attitudinal and behavioural change. I build positive, professional relationships with tour guests. I also work on other communication tactics such as videos, posters, and events.

Politics - NDP

I both worked and volunteered with the NDP between 2018 and 2022. I served as a poll captain for two different elections. In this role, I helped deliver key messages and build support for NDP policy positions. Through this experience, I learned the importance of using events, signage, posters, and social media to build momentum and engage voters.
How does this relate to PR?
This experience relates directly to public relations, as it required organizing strategic events and using integrated communication tactics to influence public attitudes. I gained hands-on experience using social media and face-to-face engagement to shape perceptions, build support, and encourage participation.
Social Services and Community Relations

From 2020 to 2021, I both volunteered and worked at Seva Food Bank, where I served as a Youth Services Coordinator. In this role, I facilitated communication between youth in Malton and the food bank. I collected both quantitative and qualitative data through phone interviews to assess whether the food bank was effectively supporting vulnerable youth.

How does this relate to PR?
This role related to public relations because it required direct communication with youth clients to evaluate whether the food bank was successfully supporting them. I conducted research to ensure that the food bank’s communications and services were strategic and effective. I also spent considerable time developing strategic messages and interview questions. Following the research, I advocated for the youth I interviewed by sharing their feedback with the organization’s directors.
